Site editing guide

Adding a page

  • Go to the CMS desk
  • Make sure the 'Content' tab is selected at the top
  • On the left hand menu select the branch directly above where you would like to add the page
  • Select the 'New' button
  • On the right hand side, select 'Page (menu item)'
  • Enter a page name
  • Expand the 'BS8723' branch in the page templates section
  • If you wish to have a page with a table of contents (such as the Model page) choose 'ToCPage'. If you wish to have a page without the table of contents (such as the Examples page), choose 'Default'
  • Once the page is created you can use the 'Up' and 'Down' buttons to change the order in the menu
  • On the newly created page click the 'Properties' tab
  • Click the metadata option on the left
  • Deselect the tick next to 'Inherit' for the page title
  • Do the same for page description
  • Enter the page title and description in the relative boxes
  • Click 'Save'

Adding content to a 'Default' page

  • Go to the CMS desk
  • Make sure the 'Content' tab is selected at the top
  • On the left hand menu select the page
  • Select the 'Page' tab on the right
  • There is just one box here which features a rich text editor - update the content
  • Click 'Save'

Adding content to a 'ToCPage' page

  • Go to the CMS desk
  • Make sure the 'Content' tab is selected at the top
  • On the left hand menu select the page you wish to add content to
  • Select the 'New' button
  • On the right hand side, select 'BS8723'
  • On the right hand side enter a title and the content for the section
  • Click 'Save'
  • Once the section is created you can use the 'Up' and 'Down' buttons to change the order on the page

Updating content on a 'Default' page

  • Go to the CMS desk
  • Make sure the 'Content' tab is selected at the top
  • On the left hand menu select the page
  • Select the 'Page' tab on the right
  • There is just one box here which features a rich text editor - update the content
  • Click 'Save'

Updating content on a 'ToCPage' page

  • Go to the CMS desk
  • Make sure the 'Content' tab is selected at the top
  • On the left hand menu expand the page with the content
  • Select the content you wish to update
  • On the right hand side select the 'Form' tab
  • Update the content
  • Click 'Save'

Setting security

  • Go to the CMS desk
  • Make sure the 'Content' tab is selected at the top
  • On the left hand menu select the page
  • Select the 'Properties' tab on the right
  • Select the 'Security' section
  • Select the 'Change permission inheritance...' link
  • Choose 'Break inheritance and copy parent permissions'
  • Select who should or should not see the page. The groups you need to change are (there are other roles, but they can be left):
    • 'CMS Public Users' (people who have registered but not been given any particular role)
    • 'Editing Board Member' (people who have been assigned this role)
    • 'Public Anonymous User (public)' (people who are not logged in)
    • 'Working Group Member' (people who have been assigned this role)
  • For each of the above groups who should not view the page, select them on the left, change the tick in the 'Read' row from the 'Allow' column to the 'Deny' column and click 'OK'. Repeat for each of the roles you wish to change (you need to click 'OK' for each role you change
